I created my first t-shirt design when I was around 14. It was taken from my favourite comic and was hot press printed onto a blank white t-shirt while I was holiday. Although this was very basic, it gave me the passion of creating designs that myself and others could wear. It took another couple of years before I submitted and won a t-shirt design competition on Shirt.Woot, an American t-shirt website owned by Amazon. I still have a few designs on the site, but have since created my own website, Apparel of Laughs to showcase and sell all of my favourite designs. I’ve been hooked ever since! The joy of seeing someone wearing one of my designs and knowing that people are proudly wearing my illustrations out and about is brilliant! The great thing about t-shirt design is that the final product is purely down to your imagination. It’s a blank canvas that can be filled with anything. You can see from some of the examples below that I’ve dabbled with many characters, styles, and genres over the years. T-Shirt designs are the perfect way of advertising a business in new and fun ways, as well as creating a recognisable brand image.
